Herbera tips for acne-free skin

Acne is one of the most common skin conditions; it is inflammatory in nature and affects the glands that produce sebum. There are many types of acne, but it most frequently appears when, for some reason, sebum secretion increases. When this happens, the follicles that connect the sebaceous glands to the pores are easily obstructed. Once obstructed, an accumulation of sebum and dead cells occurs; however, sebum production continues, causing the follicle to widen. This leads to the appearance of whiteheads, which, upon oxidizing with the air, turn into the dreaded blackheads. Due to the lack of oxygen, the skin's bacterial flora is altered, allowing the Propionibacterium acnes bacteria to grow freely, releasing inflammatory substances that result in the pimples and breakouts typical of acne.

The reasons why this increase in sebum production begins can be varied. The most frequent are hormonal, but diet, certain medications, poor skincare practices, or beauty products that do not suit your skin can also cause the appearance of acne.

How do I take care of my acne-prone skin?

One of the most common mistakes made by people prone to acne is not moisturizing their face with any cream or oil. Dehydrated skin is not the same as acne-free skin. Cleansing and moisturizing your face are always fundamental for radiant, healthy skin. The key lies in what products we use and, of course, when, how much, and how. Today, we give you some tips for acne-free skin without neglecting the hydration of your skin.

1. TAKE CARE OF YOUR DIET

As with almost everything related to health, diet is absolutely key to achieving acne-free skin. You can imagine that fried foods, processed foods, and sweets are your worst enemy. However, there are 3 elements that you should ensure are always in your diet: chlorophyll, zinc, and omega-3. You can find chlorophyll in leafy green foods, such as spinach, broccoli, and lettuce. This substance helps cleanse your entire body of harmful bacteria, including your skin, and these vegetables are also great antioxidants, which is very beneficial for skin cells. On the other hand, all foods rich in zinc will help regulate excess sebum, which, as we have seen, is the primary cause of acne. In addition, zinc will also help you against premature aging and scarring. You can find it in legumes, nuts, cereals, and tubers. Finally, omega-3 is also a great regulator of sebum production. Another of its benefits is that it promotes skin elasticity. Where can you find omega-3? It is present in oily fish, egg yolks, soy, and chia seeds.

2. CLEANSE YOUR FACE

Daily skin cleansing is essential to help the pores perform their function of releasing toxins from the epidermis. But be careful: do not scrub your skin excessively, and do not spend the day washing with soap. Twice a day is enough, and we recommend using natural and gentle products that do not irritate your skin, as otherwise, you would provoke the opposite effect. Use our REISHI MICELLAR CLEANSING morning and night to cleanse and purify your skin naturally, thanks to the organic rose hydrolat, which will clean your pores without drying, so it won't cause your glands to produce more sebum.

3. USE MASKS

Once a week, it is good for that cleansing to be deeper. For this, we recommend the use of a mask. But be careful: always use one with natural ingredients and ensure they are appropriate for your skin. For acne-prone skin, activated vegetable charcoal and hemp oil are ideal. The former absorbs impurities and toxins and is also seborregulatory. The latter has magnificent antibacterial properties. Together, they are infallible, which is why we have combined them in our gentle cleansing and exfoliating balm, BLACK MOON.

4. HYDRATE YOUR SKIN EVERY MORNING

We advise you to hydrate your skin twice a day. And not just with moisturizer. Use a serum beforehand that is specifically formulated to balance sebum secretion, help restore the skin's microbiota, and avoid dehydration. To do this, at Herbera, we have formulated 2 serums that you can combine with each other. We recommend the BIO SERUM HYALURONIC CONCENTRATE OIL FREE for the mornings and the BIO SERUM AZELAIC TREATMENT for use at night.

After the serum is absorbed, apply our HYDRA BALANCE THERAPY MOISTURIZING CREAM. It hydrates without leaving shine, helps regulate excess sebum thanks to jojoba oil—which is a great rebalancer—and provides antibacterial action thanks to black cumin and burdock.

5. HYDRATE YOURSELF FROM THE INSIDE OUT AS WELL

Good skin hydration inevitably depends on optimal hydration of your body. In other words, drink plenty of water. The minimum is 2 liters, but if you drink more, even better. Not only will the skin on your face thank you, but your digestion, kidney function, and hair will too. Water is life; don't forget it.

6. DO NOT TOUCH

As if you were in a museum, the less you touch your face, the better. Any dirt we may have on our hands would transfer to the pores of the face, and we already know that dirt causes infections and, consequently, the appearance of pimples. It is also better to keep your hair away from your face as much as possible, as it also contributes oil and toxins.

7. SWEET DREAMS

Hadn't you noticed? One bad night and the next day your skin is much worse. Lack of sleep causes an increase in stress hormones, which in turn leads to an increase in inflammation and a decrease in the skin's natural protection. Lack of sleep deprives your body of the ability to self-regulate and increases skin sensitivity. So, do everything you can to sleep like a log!
